Atletico Madrid Reportedly Reach Agreement on Fee to Sign Joao Gomes from Wolves After Season Ends

Gomes has been outstanding for the Old Gold since joining from Flamengo for just £15 million in January 2023.

A ball winning machine in the middle and a driving force in attack, the 25 year old has arguably become one of the divisions best defensive midfielders.

Unfortunately Wolves relegation means losing some of their greatest talents, including Gomes, who is closing in on a move to Atletico Madrid.

According to Sky Sports, the Spanish giants have agreed a £39m (€45m) fee and work is ongoing to make him an Atletico player once the transfer window reopens next month.

Gomes will go from potentially playing Championship football with Wolves to Champions League football next season, a consolation after missing out on Carlos Ancelotti Brazil squad.
