Atletico Madrid reach agreement for Lookman transfer from Atalanta

Atletico Madrid announced on Sunday that they have reached an agreement with Atalanta regarding the transfer of Ademola Lookman.

The clubs have finalised terms for the move of the 28 year old Nigerian international Ademola Lookman, who has already arrived in Madrid, according to an Atletico statement.

The deal now requires a medical assessment and the completion of his contract.

Lookman, famous for his hat trick that helped the Italian club defeat Bayer Leverkusen in the 2024 Europa League final, is reportedly set to join for about 40 million euros (47.5 million dollars), per media sources.

This term, the forward has netted three times in 19 outings across various tournaments for Atalanta.

A London native, Lookman kicked off his professional journey at Charlton Athletic before transferring to Everton.

He spent time on loan at RB Leipzig, then made a permanent switch there in 2019, only to return on loan to Premier League outfits Fulham and Leicester, prior to his 2022 arrival at Atalanta.

Manager Diego Simeone at Atletico has pushed for further additions since Giacomo Raspadori departed for Atalanta and Conor Gallagher joined Tottenham during the initial phase of the winter transfer period.

Striker Julian Alvarez for the Rojiblancos is facing a scoring slump, scoreless in his most recent 11 La Liga outings.
