Atalanta dismiss manager Juric following dismal Serie A opening
Atalanta have dismissed their Croatian manager Ivan Juric after consecutive Serie A losses saw the team tumble into the lower reaches of the league table, according to the clubs Monday announcement.
On Sunday, the Bergamo outfit endured a 3-0 defeat at home against Sassuolo, which saw them slip to 13th in the standings.
The club kicked off the campaign with a nine-game unbeaten sequence in Serie A, including seven draws, prior to setbacks against Udinese and Sassuolo.
The club released a statement confirming that Juric and his entire coaching team have been let go.
Jurics previous role at Roma last year was brief, spanning less than two months and marked by poor results, before he joined English club Southampton.
He departed after the Saints set the unfortunate record of becoming the first team relegated from the Premier League so early, in early April.
Juric succeeded the highly regarded former manager Gian Piero Gasperini, who moved on to Roma in the summer following a successful nine-year spell at Atalanta.
In European action this season, Atalanta have performed stronger than in domestic matches, holding 16th position in the Champions League with seven points from four fixtures.
