Arteta praises Arsenal's Saka as 'incredible' amid inconsistent season

Mikel Arteta has expressed that Arsenal completely support and adore Bukayo Saka, even though the England international has had a less than stellar year.

The 24 year old has served as a key offensive force for the Gunners over the past few seasons and inked a fresh extended deal at the Emirates just last month.

However, in this ongoing term as Arsenal chase an unprecedented four trophies, he has underperformed, recording only nine goals alongside seven assists in 39 appearances over various tournaments.

Among those strikes was the one in last weeks crucial 1-0 Premier League victory over Brighton.

Before Saturdays home Premier League clash with David Moyess Everton, Arsenal boss Arteta firmly stood up for his winger during the press briefing.

The Spaniard declared, "We completely trust him and cherish him. His contributions to us and to this club are simply astounding given his young age, and he keeps delivering that huge influence for the team."

"Occasionally he might deliver a personal showing that does not truly represent his usual quality, just like any person or any footballer worldwide.

"Yet if you consider his overall power and the drive he brings to the squad, it is truly remarkable."

Just last week, the Gunners made significant progress towards securing their first Premier League crown since 2004 with a win against Brighton, while Manchester City only managed a draw against Nottingham Forest that night.

Nevertheless, Arteta noted that even with their solid seven point advantage over the runners up City, Arsenal need to "fight for" the championship.

"Each victory from here on out represents a major advance towards our goal," he mentioned. "And the upcoming match will be particularly tough."

The Arsenal manager continued: "We appreciate our current standing and how desperately we wish to hold it through to seasons close, which is entirely up to us.

"Thus our attention remains on our duties, on sustaining our strengths, and on areas for collective enhancement."
