Arteta highlights positives amid Arsenal recent setback

Mikel Arteta explained that his job involves delivering "optimism alongside the true picture of our current standing" as he aims to halt Arsenal's brief dip in form during the upcoming match against Leeds on Saturday.

The Gunners hold a four point lead over Manchester City and Aston Villa atop the Premier League table, yet they have managed only two points from their last three fixtures.

The 3-2 loss to Manchester United last week, following scoreless stalemates with Liverpool and Nottingham Forest, marked their initial defeat on home soil this campaign.

However, the team secured a victory over Kairat Almaty in the midweek clash, rounding off a perfect run of eight triumphs in the Champions League league stage.

When questioned on Friday about the significance of the European success following the setback against United, Arsenal manager Arteta responded.

"Without doubt, after a loss, numerous emotions arise, particularly given the players' intense competitiveness and their drive for top performance," the Spanish coach noted.

"When that standard slips, introspection follows, and we engaged in that process. Yet, part of my responsibility is to inject optimism and a clear view of our position.

"Our club boasts a rich, enduring legacy, making it rare to occupy the spot we currently hold."

Arteta stressed the need to emphasise the strong aspects of their game as he works to maintain distance from City and Villa.

"We excel in countless areas, so let us centre our attention there," he continued.

"Naturally, we aim to enhance every facet, fostering greater self assurance and belief that our direction is correct."

Arsenal pursue their first Premier League crown since 2004, after three consecutive second place finishes.

Opta analysts project an 81 percent probability of Arsenal claiming the title, though adverse outcomes this weekend could shrink their advantage to just one point.
