Salah sought a substitution owing to the knock during Liverpool's 4-0 triumph in the Champions League against Galatasaray on Wednesday. The 33 year old bounced back from a failed spot kick to net the closing strike in the last sixteen encounter, securing a 4-1 aggregate success for Liverpool.

"Tomorrow he will not be fit to play. The positive aspect for Liverpool is the upcoming international window. Unfortunately for Egypt, he is unable to join them," Slot informed journalists, noting that Salah is dealing with a muscular problem.

"In previous instances Mo has demonstrated quicker recovery times compared to fellow players. He maintains his physique exceptionally well, allowing him to return ahead of schedule as past experiences indicate. However with just a fortnight before our next outing, we remain optimistic he will recover within that timeframe."

Salah, boasting four strikes and four assists across his most recent nine outings for Liverpool, was due to head to Barcelona for Egypt's encounter with Spain, a fixture initially planned for Qatar.

The Egyptian Football Association announced on Thursday that the venue change stemmed from the ongoing Middle East tensions.

Liverpool, trailing fourth placed Aston Villa by two points in their Premier League campaign, seek their initial victory in the last three domestic league matches.

"Following that massive exertion, we get merely 60 hours recovery time. Brighton consistently favour a possession based style, building from defence and creating a high tempo contest," Slot continued.
