Argentina name Senesi as World Cup replacement for injured Balerdi

Balerdi, who plays for Marseille, was omitted from Argentina's 26-player squad on Saturday after sustaining a right calf injury.

"Marcos Senesi has joined the Argentina squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup," the AFA posted on X.

Senesi, aged 29, has made three appearances for his country and has signed for Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League after his contract with Bournemouth ended.

Senesi missed just one Premier League match and played a key role in helping Bournemouth qualify for European competition for the first time, having finished in sixth place.
