Amorim insists Manchester United needs to operate without excuses

Ruben Amorim emphasised that Manchester United ought to function as a club free from excuses, considering the constant pressure for victories at Old Trafford.

The Premier League powerhouse endured a challenging debut season under the Portuguese coach and began the ongoing term unsteadily before securing three consecutive triumphs.

Manchester United then managed to secure late equalisers in two 2-2 stalemates against Nottingham Forest and Tottenham, having squandered advantages in each encounter, a problem worsened by their 1-0 home defeat to a side reduced to ten players against Everton on Monday.

This setback has intensified scrutiny on United prior to their Sunday Premier League fixture on the road versus Crystal Palace, a team sitting sixth in the standings at the weekend's outset, four positions higher than Amorim's squad.

"At our club, the expectations remain unchanged since we needed to claim victory in every fixture last season," Amorim remarked when questioned about this being a contest United should dominate.

"We faced plenty of scrutiny and backlash for not prevailing, hence at our club, excuses hold no place.

"I expressed the identical view last year during our European commitments and repeat it now, regarding the pros and cons of missing Europe, thus no excuses apply. Whether last season or this one, we must always secure wins."

Addressing his reaction to United's tenth position in the league, Amorim responded: "I believe that reviewing our performances, we deserve additional points as we dominated certain matches, held leads in others, yet surrendered that dominance.

"Therefore, examining our results, we ought to possess more points, which proves deeply disheartening and aggravating, particularly the most recent outing."

Matheus Cunha, Benjamin Sesko, and Harry Maguire continue to miss the London clash on Sunday.

Crystal Palace has advanced significantly under Oliver Glasner, who guided them to a landmark FA Cup success in May and previously clashed with Amorim while at Eintracht Frankfurt in the Champions League.

"I encountered him with Sporting in Frankfurt, so I understand their playing approach," Amorim noted.

"I draw ideas from various sources. During a two-week international hiatus, I observe numerous coaches and absorb as much influence as possible.

"With six years in professional management, I consistently seek to evolve and enhance my squad."
