Amorim brushes aside Premier League standings on Manchester United milestone

Ruben Amorim stays cautious without assuming outcomes as he nears the fixture versus Everton at Old Trafford next Monday, coinciding with one year since his initial outing leading Manchester United.

Amorims tenure at the helm for United kicked off with a 1-1 stalemate on the road against Ipswich, and in the time following, the Portuguese coach has navigated various setbacks while steering the renowned English outfit.

Yet lately the form has lifted spirits, seeing United enter this weekends fixtures in seventh spot on the Premier League standings, with no defeats across their previous five outings.

As reporters highlighted that United encounter just three sides from the top ten over the coming ten games, Amorim responded to the press: "It makes no difference. Within our competition, it holds no weight.

"The standings carry little importance since the pack remains so compact. This aspect proves meaningless.

"Given our clubs background, we can never predict when the tough encounters arise. This holds zero relevance in the Premier League."

Plenty has shifted at United from that November visit to Ipswich last year, during which Marcus Rashford netted promptly in the 1-1 tie.

The attacker counts among five players who started that game but now sit outside the United roster.

"My initial mindset centred on grasping how distinct the atmosphere feels in the Premier League, and I felt thrilled by it," Amorim remarked.

"From the outset I sensed we would face hurdles in certain areas. Still it brought that sense of engaging with the worlds top league, potentially the finest team globally, though it demands substantial effort and commitment."

All the same, a hopeful Amorim noted: "We are demonstrating that progress, yet the key point remains that regardless of our recent performances, we must recall how much we endured starting from that stage last season.

"Such experiences shape our approach, urging us to treat each match as if it were our final or opening one.

"Should you inquire, indeed I anticipate a squad now exhibiting greater poise and authority, delivering superior play, and above all becoming far more driven across all facets."
