The defeat allowed Barcelona to claim their 29th LaLiga title with three fixtures remaining and left Real facing a season without silverware, rounding off a tough year that saw Xabi Alonso dismissed halfway through and Arbeloa unable to stem the downturn.

"There is little we can add, we grasp their irritation, their letdown, and how unhappy they feel about this campaign, all we can do now is put in the effort and focus ahead, drawing lessons from our errors this year," Arbeloa commented to the media.

"Real Madrid invariably recovers, we have stumbled often and risen again just as frequently, yet I get the fury that any Real Madrid supporter could harbour, we must strive to reverse the current state."

Real Madrids season fell apart in various areas, such as their Champions League quarter final knockout by Bayern Munich, and conflicts intensified on Thursday when skipper Federico Valverde required hospital treatment following a dressing room clash with colleague Aurelien Tchouameni.

Arbeloa stressed that there should be no relaxation even though the title contest has ended, encouraging his squad to remain dedicated and respect the crest in the remaining three outings.

"With heightened duty, aware that our season has concluded, we must not disappoint ourselves, quite the opposite, we need to compete to triumph," Arbeloa stated.

"We are upholding more than just our own efforts, namely the Real Madrid crest. We ought to deliver three strong performances and claim three solid wins."

When questioned on whether a squad overhaul was required, he supported his team.

"We possess an excellent group, we can achieve much from them. It has been far from straightforward given all that has occurred in recent months, with numerous vital players sidelined. The club will always seek enhancements, but we have a talented roster that any European side would desire," Arbeloa remarked.

Regarding his personal prospects, Arbeloa noted that talks would follow in due course.

"As you are aware, we will probably discuss matters with the club. My priority is for the side to end the season on a high, allowing players some match action, that is my aim. Regarding what lies ahead, time will tell," Arbeloa added.
