Alonso insists on managing scrutiny during his time at Real Madrid

Real Madrid manager Xabi Alonso stated on Tuesday that he needs to learn how to deal with criticism and rumours about his position at the Spanish club.

The team has not secured victory in their past three fixtures across various tournaments, with claims that certain squad members are dissatisfied with his leadership.

Having represented Real Madrid from 2009 to 2014 as a player, Alonso drew lessons from previous managers such as Carlo Ancelotti and Jose Mourinho.

"It is challenging, no doubt, but I am confident I am not the initial manager to face such circumstances," Alonso remarked during a press briefing before the squads Champions League encounter against Olympiacos on Wednesday.

"I reflect often on how Carlo or Mourinho managed it back then, as they were the ones I played for. Also Manuel Pellegrini in his era, since these issues are far from novel.

"One must learn to coexist with it, maintain motivation and engage in self assessment, and naturally we are disappointed with the recent results."

Madrid began the week in seventh place in the league phase standings, following a defeat to Liverpool at Anfield in their most recent continental match.

In La Liga, they triumphed over Barcelona in Alonsos debut Clasico in October, yet followed with stalemates against Rayo Vallecano and Elche.

Even with this dip in performance, Madrid hold the top spot in La Liga, leading last years title holders Barcelona by one point.

Alonso assumed control over the summer, succeeding Ancelotti, renowned for his interpersonal skills with the team, while the Basque tactician appears somewhat distant from his charges.

Vinicius Junior displayed irritation when substituted during the Barcelona fixture, and Fede Valverde voiced objections to deployment at right back, a position Alonso has occasionally assigned him.

"I have shared the dressing room with numerous top talents and strong characters, who are exacting, committed, and constantly seek excellence," Alonso explained.

"Such responses are typical for them, and it is precisely what elevates their performance.

"This is the advantage of Real Madrid, possessing athletes of that calibre, and it requires keeping in touch with them."
