Ajax set for summer clear-out with 21 players placed on transfer list

Jordi Cruyff joined the Amsterdam club in February following Alex Kroes's announcement of his departure from the club in November. Kroes accepted responsibility for the dreadful situation in Amsterdam, where manager John Heitinga was sacked in November.

After Cruyff's arrival, interim manager Fred Grim was demoted in March, and his successor, Óscar García, ended fifth with Ajax, achieving the joint lowest points total since 1962, and then secured a spot in the UEFA Conference League qualifiers by defeating FC Utrecht on penalties in the Dutch play-off final.

After it emerged that Cruyff wants to bring in 10 to 15 new first-team players, with up to 7 of those for the starting XI, it is now clear which players the former FC Barcelona director intends to offload. Jordi Cruyff is reported to have listed 21 players for sale on the TransferRoom platform, an online marketplace where clubs, players and agents can trade in real time.

According to pundit Theo Janssen, Cruyff has put Dies Janse, Don-Angelo Konadu, Kasper Dolberg, Oscar Gloukh, Rayane Bounida, Steven Berghuis, Oliver Edvardsen, Julian Rijkhoff, Youri Regeer, Ko Itakura, Youri Baas, Josip Sutalo, Anton Gaaei, Owen Wijndal, Tristan Gooijer, Lucas Rosa, Ahmetcan Kaplan, Sivert Mannsverk, Branco van den Boomen, Amourricho van Axel Dongen and Gastón Ávila up for sale on TransferRoom, whether to test the market or to genuinely offload a player.

Ajax are reportedly seeking at least a central midfielder, a striker, full-backs 'who can play in central positions', game-changers on the wings and a new goalkeeper, according to Voetbal International.

Former Girona manager Míchel joined Ajax this week after signing a two-year contract.
