Ajax, PSV and Feyenoord maintain dominance: Every Eredivisie winner throughout history
From 1956, Dutch football has selected a champion for the Eredivisie. This league emerged to introduce professionalism to the game, which remained amateur until 1954, even as national champions were declared yearly.
The trio of Ajax, PSV and Feyenoord, recognised as the 'Big Three' or 'Traditional Top Three' in the Netherlands, have established themselves as leading forces in Dutch football through their control of the domestic competition from its beginning, claiming 63 out of 69 Eredivisie trophies, led by Ajax with 28 victories alongside their 36 overall Dutch league successes.
Only a handful of teams have interrupted the control of these powerhouses, namely AZ (twice), FC Twente, Sparta Rotterdam, DWS (currently competing in the eighth level of Dutch football) and DOS (which disbanded in 2004).
Clubs earn a star above their emblem for every 10 Eredivisie triumphs. Prior to 1956, The Hagues HVV stood out as the premier team, securing 10 league crowns between 1891 and 1914, positioning them as the sole club beyond Ajax, PSV and Feyenoord eligible for such a star.
With PSV capturing their 27th Eredivisie honour during the 2025/26 campaign, Flashscore guides you through the complete roster of winners from the 1956/57 season onwards.
