AC Milan narrow the lead on Inter after 3-0 victory against Bologna
AC Milan reduced the distance to their city opponents Inter at the Serie A summit with a solid 3-0 triumph over Bologna on Tuesday.
Goals came from Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Christopher Nkunku via a penalty in the opening half, while Adrien Rabiot confirmed the result later in the match.
This result positions Milan, who sit second, just five points adrift of Inter and four points ahead of Napoli in third.
Under Massimiliano Allegri, the team bounced back from a recent 1-1 stalemate against Roma, dominating proceedings from the start and taking the lead after 20 minutes.
Bologna's shot-stopper Federico Ravaglia made a fine save on Nkunku's headed effort, yet it fell to Rabiot, who set up Loftus-Cheek perfectly.
The ex-Chelsea midfielder finished neatly for his second strike this campaign.
Loftus-Cheek played a key role in the next goal too, feeding Nkunku, yet another arrival from Chelsea, inside the box.
Ravaglia mistimed his challenge and brought down the French forward, who converted from the penalty area.
Just three minutes after the interval, Milan secured the victory as Rabiot netted the third.
In the closing stages, Niclas Fullkrug threatened twice for Bologna, but Ravaglia denied him on both occasions.
