AC Milan extend French goalkeeper Maignans contract by five years
Mike Maignan has agreed to a new contract with AC Milan keeping the French goalkeeper at the San Siro until 2031 the Serie A club announced on Saturday.
Reports from Italian outlets indicate that Milan have nearly doubled Maignans yearly salary to five million euros securing the future of their captain.
AC Milan is delighted to confirm the extension of Mike Maignans contract until 30 June 2031 the club stated while sitting in second place in Serie A.
Maignan has spoken positively about collaborating with manager Massimiliano Allegri who took over at Milan in May 2025.
He is seasoned and calm he understands how to lead his goalkeepers effectively. That approach makes things simpler for me. I avoid drawing parallels but we connect well and he manages me appropriately Maignan commented in December.
This agreement follows the 30 year olds return to top form reminiscent of the Magic Mike moniker he gained after taking over from Gianluigi Donnarumma in goal back in 2021.
Only months earlier it seemed inevitable that he would depart at the seasons end as his previous deal expired amid subpar performances injuries and strained relations with club officials.
As the last key player from the squad that claimed Milans latest Serie A title in 2022 his chapter in red and black appeared finished especially after the seven time European winners dropped to eighth last season missing out on European competitions.
However Maignan has regained his peak level and Milan entered the weekend trailing league toppers and city foes Inter Milan by five points in the Scudetto chase.
The team has allowed 17 goals across 22 Serie A fixtures with Maignan securing nine shutouts and stopping two spot kicks.
Allegri and his players will take on Bologna on Tuesday.
