The Omani Professional League, previously known as the Omantel Elite League, is the highest division championship in Oman. Founded in 1976, the competition only went pro in September 2013, hence the name change. The league follows a double round-robin format, meaning each team faces every other club twice per season. The Omani top-flight functions under a promotion/relegation system, with the worst performers dropping down to the Omani First Division League, the country’s second tier.
