About CONCACAF Caribbean Cup

History, Format, Organization, Media Coverage

The CONCACAF Caribbean Cup is an annual regional football tournament for clubs from the Caribbean Football Union (CFU). Founded in 2021, it succeeded the Caribbean Club Championship (1997-2022), with its inaugural season taking place in 2023. The tournament is administered by the CFU and serves as a qualifier for the CONCACAF Champions Cup for Caribbean clubs.

Typically held from August to December, the competition features 10 teams contesting for the title, including the champions and runners-up of the four domestic leagues that meet CONCACAF's licensing standards.

Teams are divided into two groups of five, competing in a single round-robin format—each club plays every other team in their group once, with two matches at home and two away.

The top two teams from each group advance to the knockout stage, culminating in the semifinals, a third-place playoff, and the final, all played over two legs. The champion, runner-up, and third-place team qualify for the CONCACAF Champions Cup.

In the inaugural season, Surinamese club Robinhood triumphed, defeating Cavalier 3-0 in the final. Cavalier returned the following year, winning the title thanks to the away-goal rule after drawing 2-2 with Cibao on aggregate.
