Ligue 1 Algérie, also known as Championnat National de Première Division, is the top-flight league in Algeria. The competition was founded in 1962, with USM Alger winning the inaugural title.
The number of teams participating in this league has increased over the years, with the contestants being increased from 16 to 18 for the 2020/2021 season. Ligue 1 Algérie follows a double round-robin format, meaning each club faces everyone else both home and away each term. The campaign typically kicks off in August and wraps up in March of the following year.
