Superliga

The Kategoria Superiore is the top flight of men’s association football in Albania. Founded in 1930 as the Albanian National Championship, it was rebranded as the Kategoria Superiore in 2003 and since 2021, is also known as the Abissnet Superiore due to sponsorship reasons. It is organized by the Albanian Football Federation (FSHF)

Each season generally runs from August through May of the following year, with each team playing each other four times (twice at home and twice away). The Kategoria Superiore operates on a relegation-promotion system, with the worst-performing teams demoted to the Kategoria e Parë (Second Division). The winner of the Kategoria Superiore gains entry to the UEFA Champions League first qualifying rounds, while the second and third-best placed teams gain access to the UEFA Europa Conference League first qualifying rounds.

Tirana are the most successful title in league history, while other teams such as Dinamo Tirana, Partizani, Vllaznia, and Skënderbeu have all won multiple titles.

The Kategoria Superiore was previously broadcast by Over Sport up until June 2023, when the Albanian Football Federation opted to sign a three year TV broadcast deal with MCN TV. MCN TV now has exclusive TV and live-streaming rights in Albania for the Kategoria Superiore, as well as the Second Division, the Albanian Cup, and the Albanian Supercup.
