Salah relishes 'wonderful sensation' following 250th goal for Liverpool

Mohamed Salah described netting his 250th goal for Liverpool as a "wonderful sensation" while the Egyptian forward aided in halting the Premier League title holders' run of defeats with a 2-0 victory over Aston Villa on Saturday.

Salah gave Liverpool the lead just before the break at Anfield via a sharp finish after Villa's goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez presented the opportunity through a misplaced pass.

Although it ranked among the simplest goals Salah has netted for Liverpool, the milestone's importance meant it was a moment etched in his memory forever.

"Netting goals for a club of this stature brings a wonderful sensation, something I never take lightly," Salah remarked.

"I feel immensely proud and delighted with that accomplishment."

Salah's key strike held equal weight for the squad as Liverpool snapped their four-match skid in the Premier League.

Arne Slot's team had dropped six of their prior seven outings across all tournaments, sparking debate over the value of their lavish summer transfer investments.

Salah's performance had faced criticism too after his evident decline from the end of the previous campaign.

The 33-year-olds strike versus Villa marked merely his fifth of the season amid a tough period that led Slot to bench him on two occasions.

"This win means a lot. We endured some setbacks in the Premier League and Champions League. I am pleased we are regaining momentum ahead of crucial fixtures," Salah commented.

"This season poses challenges for us with several fresh faces, talented additions who require time to settle in."

Salah has now found the net in his most recent two outings as third-placed Liverpool remain seven points adrift of table-toppers Arsenal in the championship contest.

Slot anticipates his star attacker sharpening up just in time for a pivotal stretch including a Champions League home clash with Real Madrid and a Premier League away game at Manchester City.

"We parted with some players as well. Building cohesion and familiarity takes effort, yet all will come together smoothly," Salah added.
