Potter Announces 26-Player Swedish Team for World Cup

Potter has chosen the 26 players for the tournament in North America, opting against a larger provisional group. This reveal happens just over a month ahead of Sweden's Group F start in Mexico versus Tunisia on 14 June.

Liverpool forward Alexander Isak heads the list of seven players recalled after sitting out Sweden's March play-offs with Ukraine and Poland. Isak Hien and Eric Smith, both of whom departed the setup prior to the Poland fixture due to injuries, are also included.

Alexander Bernhardsson and Emil Holm have recovered in time to earn spots, yet the event arrives too early for Dejan Kulusevski, the extended Tottenham sidelining keeping him out of the selection.

An unexpected exclusion is Roony Bardghji, who featured in 26 outings during his first season at Barcelona. Fellow attacker based in Spain, Williot Swedberg, likewise fails to make the team.

For the goalkeeping options, Potter brings back Viktor Johansson and Jacob Widell Zetterstrom, absent from the March internationals. They will likely support Kristoffer Nordfeldt as reserves, with no room for Noel Tornqvist or Melker Ellborg.

Nordfeldt, Taha Ali and Elliot Stroud represent the trio from Allsvenskan bound for the World Cup. Stroud along with Smith secure places despite lacking senior international appearances.
