Ousmane Dembele poised for PSG comeback after six week absence

Ballon d'Or recipient Ousmane Dembele could feature for Paris Saint Germain once more following his injury layoff when they face Bayer Leverkusen in the Champions League, according to a club insider who spoke with AFP on Monday.

This development offers a significant lift to PSG manager Luis Enrique, with his team grappling with multiple injuries throughout the campaign.

The 28 year old has been sidelined for six weeks due to a hamstring injury picked up while representing France internationally in early September.

Dembele underwent recovery at a specialised facility in Qatar and resumed training activities last week.

He sat out PSG's thrilling 3-3 stalemate with Strasbourg on Friday yet has been included in the senior squad for Tuesday's fixture in Germany, the insider noted.

PSG shared photos of Dembele engaging in standard training sessions on Saturday.

The current European and French title holders saw attackers Desire Doue and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia return, the latter coming on as a substitute, for the Strasbourg encounter.

Nevertheless, they remain without midfielders Fabian Ruiz and Joao Neves, though certain outlets suggest that skipper Marquinhos has joined the travelling group to Germany.

"I am unsure about the return dates for the injured squad members," Luis Enrique commented on Thursday, emphasising that the team prioritises "avoiding any hazards to the players' wellbeing".

PSG have kicked off their Champions League title retention impressively, securing victories over Atalanta and Barcelona in their initial pair of games, whereas Leverkusen managed draws against FC Copenhagen and PSV Eindhoven.
