Major Defensive Setback for Sweden as Injured Juventus Defender Will Miss the World Cup

Juventus full-back Emil Holm has sustained a muscle injury which is anticipated to keep him out of action for several weeks. Following this assessment, Emil Holm will leave the Swedish World Cup squad to continue his rehabilitation and will therefore miss this summer's prestigious tournament.

"It is, of course, disappointing for us and for Emil, who is forced to depart at this stage. We feel for him and wish him a swift recovery", said national team manager Graham Potter on the Swedish Football Association's website.

Herman Johansson, who is already in Stockholm, will now take Emil Holm's place in the World Cup squad.

Looking ahead to the upcoming matches against Norway away on 1 June and Greece at home in Solna on 4 June, Graham Potter has called up Sebastian Nanasi from French club Strasbourg. Sebastian Nanasi has earned nine caps for the men's national team and will act as a reserve for the World Cup squad.

It has already been confirmed that Viktor Gyökeres, who will play in the Champions League final with Arsenal on Saturday night, will join the World Cup squad at a later date and will not be available for the matches against Norway and Greece.
