Everton stalwart Seamus Coleman set to conclude playing days at end of campaign
Coleman holds the club record with 372 Premier League outings for Everton and 433 overall, requiring only one additional match to climb into tenth on the Toffees historical appearances chart.
The 37 year old right back, who joined from Sligo Rovers back in 2009, has suffered numerous injuries across the past three years, limiting him to a mere 23 outings in that span.
Everton have extended an invitation for a coaching position to Coleman, the player who has worn the armband 140 times, although he remains undecided on his forthcoming path.
"Arriving here at 20 years old from Sligo Rovers into the reserve squad, I simply aimed to perform well enough for a bench spot," the Republic of Ireland skipper shared on Everton's official site.
"Reflecting on achieving the highest number of Premier League games for Everton and leading this remarkable club as captain it surpasses anything I could have imagined.
"The club has treated me exceptionally well. They have presented me with a chance to remain involved here.
"The manager and team have supported me brilliantly, and given the significance of choices about my career ahead, I plan to enjoy an extended break and reflect on what has been a truly outstanding journey as an Everton player."
