Everton Overcome Shocking Red Card Incident to Defeat Manchester United

Everton secured a 1-0 win against Manchester United at Old Trafford on Monday, enduring a remarkable episode of chaos when Idrissa Gueye earned a red card for striking his teammate Michael Keane.

Referee Tony Harrington dismissed the Senegalese midfielder in the 13th minute after he struck Keane in the face amid a furious clash.

Although the home fans expected a barrage of chances, United could not capitalise on their extra player, appearing ineffective against David Moyes determined side.

Surprisingly, the reduced Everton team scored first, going ahead thanks to an excellent effort from Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall in the 29th minute.

Dewsbury-Hall collected the ball and drove forward, evading Bruno Fernandes and Leny Yoro before curling it into the top corner.

United pressed hard through the remainder of the first half, with Everton keeper Jordan Pickford tipping a long-range Fernandes effort over the bar just before the interval.

Ruben Amorim, observing the first anniversary of his debut match managing United, substituted Mason Mount for Noussair Mazraoui at the break, yet his side generated few opportunities despite controlling the ball.

Amorim introduced midfielder Kobbie Mainoo and Diogo Dalot in place of Casemiro and Yoro during the 58th minute, but United remained ineffective.

Pickford denied a strong header from Joshua Zirkzee with around 10 minutes of regular time left, allowing Everton to clinch a memorable victory.

United entered the Old Trafford fixture riding a five-match unbeaten streak.

Everton faced an early setback in the 10th minute with the injury to captain Seamus Coleman.

Events escalated three minutes later with the unbelievable confrontation involving Gueye and Keane.

Gueye became the first Premier League player sent off for clashing with a teammate since 2008.

The Premier League Match Centre shared on X: "The referees decision to issue a red card to Gueye for violent conduct was reviewed and upheld by VAR, with the incident classified as a definite blow to Keanes face."
