Aston Villa set for Bayern Munich clash in profitable pre-season match in Hong Kong

Vincent Kompany's consistent German title winners are scheduled to play against South Korean outfit Jeju SK on 4 August before travelling to Hong Kong to take on Premier League team Aston Villa just three days afterwards.

Bayern Munich and Villa previously clashed in the Champions League last season, where Jhon Duran netted the sole strike in a 1-0 victory for Unai Emery's squad.

Led by England forward Harry Kane, Bayern Munich lead the Bundesliga and secured a 2-1 triumph over Real Madrid on their away ground this week during the opening match of their Champions League quarter-final tie.

The club has made one trip to South Korea and one to Hong Kong in the past.

Bayern Munich rely on South Korean defender Kim Min-Jae as a central figure in their backline.

Aston Villa, on the verge of reaching the Europa League semi-finals, stated on their official site that they "would hope to announce additional matches in the far east shortly".

Clubs embarking on pre-season trips must weigh financial gains against the well-being of players, especially with the World Cup scheduled from 11 June until 19 July.
