Antoine Griezmann Joins Orlando City of MLS, Set to Wrap Up Season at Atletico Madrid

It was inevitable. Orlando City announced the signing of Antoine Griezmann on Tuesday.

The French forward will see out his current campaign with Atletico Madrid prior to heading to the United States, as reported multiple times since February.

His deal runs for two years and includes an extension option for the 2028/29 campaign.

The attacker visited Orlando, approved by the club, over the two rest days for the senior squad, to seal his agreement with the Florida outfit, Atletico noted in an official release.

He stands as one of the finest, most skilled and impactful talents of his era, and opting for Orlando City highlights our clubs vision and ethos, remarked Orlando City owner Mark Wilf regarding Griezmann.

We aim to assemble a title contending squad annually, and bringing in a top tier talent like Antoine underlines our dedication and faith in the clubs potential.

In the ongoing term with Atletico, Griezmann could still secure the Copa del Rey and the Champions League.

Griezmann transferred to Atletico from Real Sociedad back in July 2014. He now holds the record as the clubs leading goalscorer ever with 211 strikes, eclipsing Luis Arginoss tally of 173.

Across 10 years, he has featured 488 times in the clubs colours, placing him fourth on the list of most appearances for the Colchoneros.
