Geschichte, Format, Organisation, Medienberichterstattung
Die Bangladesh Premier League, allgemein bekannt als BPL, ist die höchste Spielklasse im bangladeschischen Fußball-Ligasystem. Sie wird von der Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) organisiert. Das Dhaka Derby zwischen Abahani Dhaka und Mohammedan SC zählt zu den populärsten Begegnungen der Liga. Die BPL löste die Dhaka Premier Division League ab, die von 1948 bis 2006 als höchste Spielklasse fungierte.
Gegründet im Jahr 2007 als erste professionelle nationale Fußballliga des Landes, war die BPL ursprünglich als B.League bekannt und wurde 2009 in Bangladesh League umbenannt. Im Jahr 2012 erhielt sie ihren heutigen Namen Bangladesh Premier League (BPL).
