Gothenburg derby abandoned due to fire in the IFK end. Sirius five clear again

Orgryte A A IFK Goteborg

The opening top flight clash at Gamla Ullevi between the tenants Orgryte and Goteborg since 2009 never reached half time. The contest was halted shortly before the interval and later abandoned.

Promoted Orgryte had managed just one victory since their return yet that remains one more than bottom placed IFK whose campaign hit a fresh low after several of their supporters in the away section set Orgryte scarves and banners alight.

Referee Glenn Nyberg led the players from the pitch in the 40th minute and more than an hour later officials decided to call the game off with Goteborg in front 2 1.

The fixture had opened with a ten minute silent protest by supporters against perceived efforts by authorities to suppress atmosphere at Swedish matches.

After noise levels rose again midway through the first period Blavitt moved ahead when Sebastian Clemmensen slipped the ball inside for August Erlingmark to steer into the bottom corner and complete a fluent attack. Seven minutes on Clemmensen provided once more with a curling cross finished by Benjamin Brantlind.

In the 37th minute the designated home side pulled one back through a sharp counter that ended with William Hofvander driving into the top corner and that strike seemed to spark the unpleasant incidents that followed.

The abandonment leaves Goteborg still seeking a first win and stuck on three points with OIS two points and places ahead. A decision on any replay or resumption at a later date has yet to be confirmed.

Djurgarden 2 3 Sirius

An eventful evening unfolded in Stockholm although solely for sporting reasons as Sirius maintained their strong season with a win over Djurgarden that restores their five point cushion over the title contenders and ended the hosts two game winning run.

The visitors unbeaten start faced pressure after thirteen minutes when Bo Hegland outswinging corner was met by a powerful header from Mikael Anderson to put Djurgarden ahead.

Two goals inside five minutes swung momentum Sirius way late in the half. Melker Heier slipped the ball through for Marcus Lindberg to poke past the keeper before Isak Bjerkebo broke free on the left and squared for Robbie Ure to complete the simplest of finishes.

After the restart the Iron Stoves again began brighter and levelled after six minutes when a ball to the far post was headed back across by Hegland and Tobias Anker diverted into his own net under pressure from Kristian Lien.

That did not unsettle the side from Uppsala who went ahead once more six minutes later as Ure picked out unmarked Neo Jonsson inside the area and he drove the winner home from eight yards.

Sirius now boast three successive wins since their only draw of the season while Djurgarden sit fifth having squandered the chance to move into third.
